Campi Flegrei volcano () - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 15 May-21 May 2024 (Continuing Activity)

INGV reported that a seismic swarm at Campi Flegrei consisted of about 150 earthquakes recorded from 1951 on 20 May to 0031 on 21 May. The largest event in the swarm, a M 4.4 located at a depth of 2.6 km beneath the Solfatara, was the largest recorded since the current cycle of seismicity associated with uplift began in 2005. Since 19:51 local time yesterday, a seismic swarm has been occurring in the Campi Flegrei caldera. Until 00:31 local time last night, approximately 150 earthquake events have been monitored. The largest recorded earthquake had a magnitude of 4.4, which is the most powerful quake recorded since the current seismic crisis began in 2005.
